Hanibal is better known as a DJ Prodigy. He worked along with DJ Khaled for years until an injury put Hanibal’s career on hold, but now he’s back with a powerful message. 

 This track spoke to me instantly. The gravel in the vocals and the simple, but emotional lyrics all accompanied by a haunting guitar melody combined to make me feel every word, beat, and strum.

Ella gives humanity to a subject that far too often is dehumanized and used as a political tool to bludgeon the opposing side. Yes, that criticism goes both ways. This song speaks of hope and despair all at the same time. And does it well.

I am fresh out of stones so I'll throw one post at two birds. Or something like that. I've wanted to review this album for a while and since I had the privilege of catching Sean McConnell open for a band Called NeedToBreath the other night, I decided to tack on a concert review. I will admit I went specifically to see Sean and knew next to nothing about the headliner. My appreciation for Sean McConnell began in 2012 with the release of his album Midland . The Fox Theater in Riverside, California is a nice venue with comfortable seating and ample leg room. One of those places that doesn’t offer a bad seat. Capacity is 1600, but   the space feels much more intimate than that.  There is power in a talented singer/songwriter standing below the lights with only his guitar. One of my writing gigs is reviewing music for the LA on Lock music blog and while some of the tunes I hear in their name are not right for that blog's audience, they are still worthy of a large partnership. Here are a few of those for y'all to check out. Everyone of these comes with a slightly different sound, but each spoke to me. Hope they do the same for you. Camille Miller is German born and raised in Canada. This particular song borders on pop and Americana but much of her work leans to a more folk sound. Berith This single feels like old school Kenny Rogers for the first few measures and it carries that 70 country vibe. Berith is Norwegian and her voice hints at that accent to give it a nice complexity. V Blackburn V is a track on an EP titled Public Figures and every other song is a fresh take on a celebrity. She has a big voice and a unique approach to songwriting but this song spoke to me lyrically. Sad and hopeful at the same time. Leero...
